Pierre Gasly hopes to change the penalty point system in Formula 1.

The Alpha Tauri driver has earned 10 penalty points over the past year, and if he receives two more, he will be automatically disqualified for one Grand Prix.

Until now, the only driver to have received a suspension was Romain Grosjean, who caused a massive crash at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix in 2012.

According to Gasly, the penalty point system in Formula 1 should be reviewed.

I won`t lie if I say that the situation is unpleasant and quite delicate - to a certain extent, it`s a little awkward to be in a position of possible disqualification.

I don`t really feel like I`ve been particularly dangerous in the last 12 months - and disqualification would be too harsh a punishment.

We have had a lot of conversations with the FIA to try to find a solution.

I want to compete in all the races and I hope to finish the season with Alpha Tauri as best as possible. In addition, I hope to participate in all races in 2023 and try to achieve the maximum with Alpin. There`s a lot at stake because no one knows what will happen next season. Maybe I will fight for the title - in that case, I can`t risk being disqualified for the race and losing my chances of winning the championship.

In general, it is a difficult situation, I have discussed it many times with the FIA - the current rules are too harsh for drivers: despite the fact that penalties are not always given for dangerous driving, the consequences may be too serious.

I hope that by the end of the weekend we will find some kind of solution so as not to end up in a stupid situation, " says Gasly.

It is unlikely that Pierre deserved his current position. These are the current rules, but the main thing is how we deal with them in the future.

I also scored quite a few penalty points, and I completely agree with Pierre. It seems they added three points to my license for trespassing - it doesn`t look like it`s dangerous for me or the other riders.

I received another two points for a collision with Lance Stroll in Jeddah, although after the race all the riders agreed that it was not my fault. So I got a lot of undeserved points.

So we discuss all this. I think there will be changes. But what will happen to the points already collected? Something needs to be done about this - I don`t think any of us are dangerous racers.

Of course, dangerous people should be fined, but I think that many who are now being punished do not receive points because of dangerous actions.
