New record in football! Liverpool is defending a defender

Southampton has accepted Liverpool`s ? 100m Liverpool exclusive bid for Virginie van Dijk, and the defender will reinforce Merseyside days, The Telegraph said. This will be a record deal for a defender in the world. Currently the most expensive defender is Benjamin Mendi, for whom Manchester City paid 52 million pounds in the summer.

Jurgen Clop has long wanted Van Dijk, but months ago, when it became clear that Liverpool was negotiating directly with the footballer, a scandal broke out, after which the club had to officially apologize and retreat.

26-year-old Dutchman was not included in the Southampton group for the last three matches by soccer predictions of the team and it immediately rumors that something is being prepared. Virginie Dyke is in the English Premier League on September 1, 2015. For one season only, he managed to prove to be invaluable for the team and immediately earned a new 6-year contract. At the beginning of this year he was nominated for the team captain. But this summer, Van Dyke filed a transfer request, pointing out the desire to play for another club. However, a deal was never reached. According to The Telegraph, Manchester City and Chelsea have also come up with offers over the past few months. It is supposed that the salary of the 193 cm high defender will be about 180, 000 pounds per week.
