The Major League plans to add new technology to VAR to help more precisely and quickly resolve controversial football-related cases. According to English media, Hawk-Eye is already working on a sophisticated system that will use multiple cameras to provide video assistants with an accurate, automated ambush line in real time. This will avoid delays in delineating thin lines, and also remove any doubt about the incorrect placement of the lines by the video assistants themselves. The technology will track the back foot of every player on the pitch, making it clear whether or not the footballer involved is covering the ambush.
It is not yet clear if the new technology will be able to be introduced in the middle of the season, but it looks like it will work in the next campaign.
Otherwise, 17 selected referees will meet tomorrow to discuss how the Premier League VAR can work even better. Chief judges are urged to start using the field monitors, as in other championships, such as Serie A. This will probably be one of the topics discussed at tomorrow`s meeting.
