In 2023 Formula 1 will have experimental rules for the use of the DRS system.
The decision was approved by the FIA Commission. During next season`s six sprint races, the rear wing will be able to be opened a lap after the start or restart (standing or moving) instead of two laps as usual. The rules will be tested with an eye to 2024, when they can be introduced at Sunday races.
In addition, the use of thermal covers was discussed at the meeting of the Commission. The FIA and FOM are still counting on the elimination of heating pads in 2024, but the final by football livescore decision will not be made before July 2023.
The Commission also agreed that the current penalties for replacing powerplant components are not severe enough to prevent teams from changing parts strategically. The situation will continue to be analyzed.
